Ye Olde Click & Print: A Victorian Portrait Event

Have you ever wondered what it was like to get a photo of yourself taken over a century ago?  Or are you curious about how photography worked in the Victorian and Edwardian era?  Find out at Ye Olde Click & Print, a Victorian portrait event!

Ye Olde Click & Print will centre on the experience of sitting for a portrait like they did many moons ago. Dress up, down, or however you like and feel free to bring small props. We’ll also have an assortment of props courtesy of the Costume Museum of Canada and our own collection if you want something more historic to wear but don’t have anything.

Your portrait will be taken on an old-fashioned large format view camera. Afterwards, there will be a presentation wherein you’ll learn about what photography was like in its early years. Through the duration of the event, you’ll have chances to check out some photographs taken in historical formats, such as daguerreotypes, as well as old cameras. We’ll also have some costumes on display to highlight the sorts of outfits that would’ve been worn for Victorian portraits.

As in true historic fashion, you won’t get your print right away; instead it’ll be processed in our darkroom and mailed out to you to complete the experience of a slower form of photography! In your mailbox, you’ll wind up with a salt print of yourself, a popular early printing technique from the 19th century, along with a black & white negative for you to make use of.

Tickets are available for purchase as a single, duo, or group.

SINGLE : 1 Photo + 1 person = $40

DUO: 1 Photo + 2 people = $60

GROUP: 2 Photos + 4 people = $100*

*When booking a group, you must book 4 spots (@ $25, the booking engine will not give you other options) which will equal to $100.
