Stories from Home
Dalnavert Museum is a house museum, which means our artifacts are everyday items that people would have used in the Victorian period. In this project, we encourage you to take a curator's viewpoint of your own home, and consider how the everyday items around you are artifacts of the time we're living in right now.
Look around your living space. Imagine it as a museum in the future. Visitors are walking through your home and looking at your objects and furniture like they are historical objects that show them what life was like for you, and also tell them about who you were.
How does that change how you see the objects in your home? What objects could help people in the future understand what life has been like for you during the COVID-19 pandemic? Are there items that have taken on new meaning and significance for you in this past year?

Choose an artifact from around your home
Take a picture, video, or sound clip of the artifact
Write a description
SUBMIT!
Submissions will be grouped together according to theme on the website. You can chose which category best suits your artifact. The categories are:
Love and happiness
Anger and frustration
Nostalgia and memory
Sadness and grief
Essentials
Weird stuff

Submission Guidelines
All submissions must include an artifact and accompanying description under 60 words
Photos, audio, and video will all be accepted, provided the file is under 20 MB. For a video, the length will have to be under 10 seconds.
For audio and video submissions, make sure you are allowed use any music or sounds they contain.
Submissions will be displayed in the gallery on Dalnavert Museum’s website and shared on our social media pages
Submissions containing inappropriate or hateful images, language, or sounds will not be accepted.
