(Theatrical reading presented by the Actors' Fund of Canada)
Feb 11th 2:30pm
Dalnavert Museum is happy to host the Actors' Fund of Canada again for this year's Master playwright Festival. Honouring playwright John Patrick Shanley (Doubt: a Parable, and Moonstruck) Sailor's Song is about Rich, a sailor metaphorically and in reality. As a merchant seaman, he’s returned to be with his uncle, also a sailor, as his aunt dies. He meets two sisters, and is attracted to both, although they’re opposites. Rich had followed his uncle in going to sea for no other reason than he had no direction. Now, with the sisters, he has an opportunity to choose and find a direction. He and his uncle reflect upon their lives and the nature of love.
“Sailor's Song is about the almost unbearable beauty of choosing to love, in the face of death.”
