March 11th - Ines Bonacossa will return with an illustrative talk about the most delicate of Victorian subjects...BLOOMERS! Victorians and The Call of Nature.
March 25th - Linda McDowell, who delivered a talk on "Mothers and Others" of the women's suffrage movement last May, is back with "The Weaker Sex”? Not in Manitoba! 2018 is shaping up as a year for women being active in the social and political areas – all over the world. What a great time to remind people of all of those strong and adventurous women in the past who were part of Manitoba’s history – from strong Indigenous woman like Thanadelthur, Charlotte Small Thompson and Annie Bannatyne to the Grey Nuns, Mary Jones, Mary Dyma, Rose Cherniak Alcin, Linda Ballantyne, Inez Stevenson and all the other women who broke the rules to become early lawyers, doctors, business women, political leaders, newspaper editors and more!
April 15th - Heard It Through The Grapevine: Art Nouveau Reaches Dalnavert. Our own Susan Moffatt will be joining us with a two-part lecture on Art Nouveau, a style popular in the late Victorian period. This first part will show and tell about the evolution and main elements of the style and its more famous and dedicated practitioners.
April 29th - Susan Moffatt takes us into Dalnavert proper to explore Art Nouveau-inspired interiors and pieces in our collection with Heard It Through The Grapevine: Art Nouveau Reaches Dalnavert Part Deux.
