About Linda McDowell:
Linda McDowell has been a teacher in Manitoba elementary and secondary schools, Social Studies consultant for the Winnipeg School Division, and has worked in teacher education with Brandon University and the University of Winnipeg. Most of her teaching has been in the area of history. She has also been involved in curriculum and teacher guide writing for Manitoba. She is a life member of the Manitoba Association of Social Science Teachers Association and served on early Status of Women in Education committees.
As a retired teacher she volunteers with the Education program of the Manitoba Legislative Assembly, volunteers for the Nellie McClung Foundation and has returned to volunteering at Dalnavert. A long time interest in the history of Prairie women has led to research on woman suffrage, on early women trustees and on the lives of all of those "ordinary women" who weren't ordinary at all.
Currently she is working on research about "The Weaker Sex? - Not in Manitoba!" another talk coming to Dalnavert for International Women's Day March 2018!
